Florida Tech's women's soccer team huddles up during their matchup against Columbus State.

The Panthers women’s soccer team defeated No. 2 Columbus State Cougars 2-1 in last week’s matchup at home.

Florida Tech’s victory handed Columbus State their first loss of this year’s campaign. Mayara Queiroz Reis, a junior, scored both of the Panther goals to contribute to the school’s first ever win against the Cougars.

Redshirt senior goalie Maria Sanchez Recuero recorded five saves, four of them coming in the second half.

The Panther’s record currently stands at five wins, two losses, and four ties (5-2-4). Florida Tech takes on Rollins in Winter Park this Wednesday, as they look to add a conference victory.
