Florida Tech’s Men’s Basketball defeated conference opponent St. Leo University 80-72 this past Saturday at home.
Tech put up 50 of their 80 points in the second half. They trailed by 10 points with 8:44 left in the game, but caught fire to secure the victory. The Panthers did not allow a point in the last four minutes of the game, as Jacob Crockett knocked down a fastbreak 3-pointer. After making seven free throws, the Panthers ended the contest on an 18-0 run.
Runako Ziegler scored 17 of his 21 total points in the second half, along with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals to his statline. Mehkii Noble collected his third double-double of the season, recording 13 points and 14 rebounds, and added three blocks on the defensive end. Sesan Russell and Sean Houpt posted nine points each to add onto their win.
As a team, the Panthers shot 45% from the field, and 28% from 3-point territory. Tech outrebounded the Lions 44-36. Florida Tech outscored St. Leo in fastbreak points, points off turnovers, and points from bench players.
The men’s squad takes on Puerto Rico-Bayamon at the Clemente Center on Tuesday, November 23 at 7 p.m.
