Cecilia Knoll

Cecilia Knoll, member of the Florida Tech community since 1977.

Cecilia Knoll, professor of mathematical sciences, passed away on March 22. Knoll joined the Florida Tech community in 1977.

Knoll passed away due to health complications not related to COVID-19, according to a Florida Tech press release.

Students and colleagues at Florida Tech remember Knoll fondly.

“I truly loved Dr. Knoll’s class… I learned so much both academically and emotionally, from the material all the way to having a more positive outlook on life in general,” Cassie O’Connor, a former student of Knoll’s said.

Knoll was described by her mathematics department colleague, professor emeritus Edward Kalajian, as a wonderful teacher who was always eager to help students

According to the press release, Knoll was extremely passionate and devoted to her position as professor. Even as her health was declining that weekend, she was concerned with who would be instructing her classes the next Monday.

“She always made me smile no matter what…no calculus class will ever be the same without her,” O’Connor said, “Her bright spirit will be missed by every student who she graced her presence to.”
